The Madras high court on Friday upheld the CBI’s exclusion from the RTI Act ambit. The notification exempting the CBI from the RTI was issued on June 9 and prompted writ petitions against it. A bench comprising chief justice M Y Eqbal and Justice T S Sivagnanam dismissed a public interest litigation questioning the validity of the “blanket and wholesale exemption” given to the CBI.
