Narendra Modi - Rajasthan High Court dismisses case

The Rajasthan High Court today rejected a petition against Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi in connection with the latter’s reportedly remarks against the first Prime Minister Pundit Jawahar Lal Nehru.

The High Court Single Bench of Justice Mahesh Chandra Sharma rejected the appeal filed in this connection by one Charmesh of Bundi district challenging the District Court’s order that rejected his petition in the want of jurisdiction.

Contesting the appeal in the High Court Mr Modi’s counsel Omkar Singh Lakhawat pleaded that appellant Charmesh did not belong to Mr Nehru’s family and hence he could not file the petition.

Judge Sharma upheld the pleading and dismissed the appeal.

In his petition, Charmesh sought action against Mr Modi for one of his speeches in which he had made ‘derogatory and defamatory’ remarks against Pt Nehru that hurt him.
