Woman raped in car by neighbour in east Delhi

An 18-year-old woman was allegedly sexually assaulted by her neighbour inside a car in Madhu Vihar of east Delhi on Tuesday night.

On Wednesday morning, the survivor narrated her ordeal to her employer, who took her to her parents and then reported the matter to the police.

In her complaint, the survivor, who works as a household help, said that she was going home from work when her neighbour, Kaalia, stopped the car and pulled her inside it.

Kaalia then parked the car at a desolate spot near NH-24 and raped her while his two friends, Shahid and a juvenile, stood guard outside. He threatened to harm her if she tried to shout for help. Later, he dropped her near her house.
The survivor said that while leaving the youths rammed their car into a divider leading to a dent in the vehicle. This helped the police identify the vehicle in which the crime was committed.

Her statement was later recorded in front of a magistrate and she was sent for medical examination. She said that she knew the youth for the past few months.
The accused was tracked to a house in the same slum cluster where the girl stayed and arrested.

His two associates were also apprehended later. An FIR has been registered under IPC Section 376 (rape) against the accused. The Eeco car used in the crime has been impounded. Kaalia worked as a part-time mechanic and driver.
