CBI raids homes of Adarsh accused

Mumbai: A day after filing an FIR in the Adarsh housing society scam, the CBI conducted raids on the society’s office and on the residences of some of the key accused, seizing several computers and incriminating documents. A CBI official said, after the raids, that the agency had concluded the Adarsh plot belonged to the army. he searches were conducted in Maharashtra and Bihar at the homes of the society’s chief promoter R C Thakur, retired Brigadier M M Wanchu, former MLC Kanhaiyalal Gidwani, former state information commissioner Ramanand Tiwari. The office of the Adarsh society in Colaba was also raided and a residence of former UD department’s deputy secretary P V Deshmukh sealed. senior CBI official said the investigating agency searched Thakur’s houses in Mumbai, Nagpur and Bihar. In Thane, the agency raided a residence of Thakur’s son Navin; in Bihar, it searched his ancestral house at Madhiya village.
