All illegal pathology laboratories in the state should be closed down, Gujarat Association of Pathologist and Microbiologists wrote to the health department.
In a recent report, association convenor Hitesh Bhanushali also stated this on the basis of Gujarat High Court’s order to close down laboratories which are not recognised by the Medical Council of India.
The association had approached the HC seeking action. They did this after several complaints to the State Health Department, Gujarat Medical Council and Ahmedabad Medical Council regarding the illegal labs fell on deaf ears.
The HC ruled in favour of the association on September 19, 2010.
Despite this, no action has been taken against the pathologists who run these laboratories, say association members.
