Magistrates get notice for absence

Ahmedabad: The Gujarat high court has sought explanation from the metropolitan magistrates, including the chief metropolitan magistrate, for their absence during court hours.

On Friday, Justice Jayant Patel along with two other judicial officers arrived at Gheekanta in an autorickshaw and went to the old collector office.

From here, the judicial officers visited the main campus and went to different courtrooms in the eight-floor building. Three days after the visit, seven magistrates received notices from the high court demanding explanation on why they were not present on dais during the office hours, sources in the metropolitan court said.
