CBI quizzes ADAG president A N Sethuraman in 2G case

New Delhi: The CBI on Monday examined Reliance ADAG group president A N Sethuraman before a trial court in the 2G spectrum allocation scam. Senthuraman, the second prosecution witness, said all the applications for Unified Access Services (UAS) Licences on behalf of Swan Telecom were signed and submitted by him (the witness) in March 2007. “I submitted applications for 15 circles for UAS licences on behalf of Swan Telecom in March 2007,” he said.
He said he was on the payroll of Reliance ADAG but submitted the applications for UAS licences in the capacity of an authorized signatory of Swan Telecom. “I am on the payroll of reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group Private Limited. I signed these applications in the capacity of authrorized signatory of Swan Telecom Pvt Limited,” he said while deposing before special CBI judge O P Saini.
He also said it “appeared” that Hari Nair, senior vice-president of the firm and an accused in 2G spectrum scam, had certified documents accompanying applications for 15 circles for UAS licences on behalf of Swan Telecom. “The signature appears to be of Hari Nair,” he said. He identified the signatures of Nair who, in the capacity of company secretary of Swan Telecom, had allegedly signed its documents like Memorandum and the Articles of Association. However, he was not sure about the signature on the certificate of registration of the special resolution confirming the alteration of object clause of Swan Telecom.
“This appears to be signed by Hari Nair ...but I cannot say wether the signature is original or not. I have been shown certified true copy of top sheet of MoA and AoA of M/s Swan Telecom by the company secretary,” he said.
