Take call on club land: HC to govt - The plot encroached by the Karnavati Club Ltd

Ahmedabad: The Gujarat high court on Thursday asked the state government to clarify whether it wanted to sell the plot encroached by the Karnavati Club Ltd, to the club, and if yes, to fix the price.
The state government has to reply to the court’s query through advocate general Kamal Trivedi by Tuesday. During the proceeding before the bench of Chief Justice S J Mukhopadhaya and Justice J B Pardiwala, it was discussed that the government has not been taking any action on issues of regularisation of land or demolition of illegal construction for nearly four years.
Two petitioners, Dinesh Rawal and Pravin Patel, have separately challenged the construction on government land. They seek hearing before the government takes any decision with regards to allotment of the land to the club.
In 2007, the club had made a representation before the government to regularise the construction of tennis court, swimming pool, office and a hall by way of selling the plot to it on jantri rate. The land allegedly encroached upon is bearing survey no 754/15, 754/ 16, 757/1, 757/2 and 757/3.
